National Truck Driver Appreciation Week: Honoring the Heart of Logistics

As National Truck Driver Appreciation Week rolls around, it's time to shine a spotlight on the men and women who keep our nation moving—literally. Trucking is more than a job; it’s a lifestyle. It’s one of the toughest, most essential professions out there, yet it's often underappreciated. This week is dedicated to recognizing the sacrifices, commitment, and hard work of our truck drivers who help ensure that goods, supplies, and services reach every corner of the country.

What It’s Really Like to Be a Trucker

Carolina Tarps recently put together a fantastic YouTube video that gives an inside look at the real life of truckers. In the video, a group of independent truckers sits down for a roundtable discussion, sharing their stories—the highs, the lows, and the misconceptions that come with life on the road. This video is a must-watch for anyone who wants to truly understand what it's like to be behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler day in and day out. The honesty and grit of these drivers really make you appreciate how much they give up ensuring the rest of us can get what we need.

Special Offers and Perks for Drivers

If you're out there on the road, it's worth taking advantage of some of the special deals happening throughout September in honor of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. For instance, Love’s Travel Stops is offering some incredible in-store deals all month long. Red Roof Inn is also stepping up for truckers by offering convenient parking options across the country. Truck drivers can enjoy comfortable accommodations while having peace of mind that their rigs are parked securely. Red Roof Inn provides parking for bobtails, semi-cabs, trailers, and more, but it's always a good idea to call ahead and confirm availability. This small step ensures you can rest easy after a long haul without worrying about your rig.

You can even use a handy Truck Parking Google Map to check which Red Roof locations have truck parking available along your route. Planning ahead can make all the difference when you’re in need of a good night’s sleep!

St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund: A Lifeline for Drivers

Being on the road takes a toll on drivers, not just emotionally but physically as well. More than 70% of the approximately 3.5 million professional truck drivers in the U.S. suffer from health issues like obesity, diabetes, sleep disorders, and cardiovascular diseases. That’s where the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund steps in.

This incredible organization helps over-the-road truck drivers and their families when an illness or injury causes them to temporarily stop driving and face financial hardship. They don’t just provide direct financial aid but also promote health and wellness programs designed to prevent and manage common medical conditions within the trucking community.

At Atlantic, we are proud to support the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund through our Atlantic Cares Program. There are so many ways to get involved with this life-changing organization, from donations and fundraising to in-kind giving and even rounding up your purchases at Walmart. Every little bit helps, and together we can make a difference for the drivers who give so much of themselves every day.

Let’s Celebrate and Support Our Truckers

This National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, take a moment to acknowledge the true backbone of our logistics and transportation industry. Whether it’s sharing a Facebook post about the in-store deals at Love’s, spreading awareness about the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, or simply thanking a driver for their service, every gesture counts.

To all the truck drivers out there: thank you. We appreciate your hard work, your dedication, and the sacrifices you make to keep our country running. You are the lifeblood of our economy, and we’re grateful for everything you do.
