Family Ties & Freight Lines: Parents and Their Kids at Atlantic Logistics

At Atlantic Logistics, we’re more than just a business, we’re a family. And on Take Your Child to Work Day, we get to celebrate both! This special day is all about inspiring the next generation, giving them a glimpse into the world of logistics, and maybe even sparking an interest in the industry. But for some of our team, working with family is already part of their daily routine.

Several parents and their children share more than just a last name; they share a passion for logistics, problem-solving, and teamwork. Today, we’re spotlighting these dynamic duos and trios and getting their take on what it’s like to work together.

Meet Our Parent-Child Teams. We caught up with some of our amazing Atlantic Logistics parents and their children to hear about their experiences working side by side.

Here’s what they had to say:

Johnnie Greene (Dad) Tyler Greene (Son) and Morgan McClelland (Daughter)

Q: What’s the best part about working together?

Johnnie: Being able to see my kids every day and watch them grow in their live sand the business.

Tyler: I get to see him daily.

Morgan: It’s great to have someone you trust and who understands you both personally and professionally.

Q: What’s something you’ve learned from each other on the job?

Johnnie: Patience! LOL

Tyler: How to treat customers and get the job done.

Morgan: I’ve learned a lot about problem-solving from my dad. We approach  challenges differently, and it’s been interesting to see how our perspectives complement each other.

Q: Any funny or memorable moments from working together?

Johnnie: First day for each was great! Try not to play “Daddy Ball”

Tyler: Too many to count.

Morgan: Hiding the mini speaker in his office and played scary noises. His  reactions to getting scared are the best.

Q: If you could describe your parent/child in three words, what would they be?

Johnnie: Morgan is beautiful & Fiery & a great mother.  For my son, He is a hard worker and shows a reasonable amount of patience and restraint with his sister. He has been a good teacher.

Tyler: Best there is

.Morgan: Hardworking, supportive, and funny.

Q: Who is more likely to get distracted at work - you or your parent/child?

Johnnie: Me and Tyler - more than Morgan.

Tyler: DAD.

Morgan: I’d say me these days.

Q: Who has better office snacks?

Johnnie: Tyler, but he doesn’t share.

Tyler: We don’t buy snacks lol

Morgan:  Definitely me. DoorDash Queen.

Q: What’s the best part about working together?

Rob: Several of my children have worked at Atlantic. It is great to get to know them on a totally different level than parent/child. I love it when I am at a conference, and I see my 20 year old daughter talking logistics with a group of people. It makes me extremely proud of her learning the business and then having the courage to go out and sell our services.

Tali:  One of the best parts of working with my dad is the opportunity to go to lunch    together during the workday. I enjoy the quality time we get to spend together throughout the week. I am truly grateful for the chance to bond over lunch and enjoy those special moments, all while getting a delicious, free meal!

Q: What’s something you’ve learned from each other on the job?

Rob: I think having a child that works here makes me more conscientious about who I am and how I present myself at work. It also causes me to think more about the policies and changes that affect our team members. She is a no-holds barred critic and will tell me what she really thinks about an issue.

Tali: My dad has taught me the importance of always putting customers first and ensuring their needs are top priority, even in challenging situations. He’s also instilled in me the value of honesty—both in work and life. Over the years, I’ve gained so much insight from him about building strong professional and personal relationships, which has shaped how I approach both my career and interactions with others.

Q: Any funny or memorable moments from working together?

Rob: When we are on vacation, I love to hear Tali talking about loads and shippers she sees. She also gets frustrated because it is really hard to unplug from looking at trucks and freight as it rolls down the road.

Tali: My dad loves to send GIFs over teams! It is always fun to see what random GIF he can come up with.

Q: If you could describe your dad/daughter in three words, what would they be?

Rob: Conscientious, competent, and caring

Tali: Kindhearted, honest, and hardworking.

Q: Who is more likely to get distracted at work - you or your dad/daughter?

Rob: Tali is. She comes into my office and just wants to chat. Sometimes I have time, and sometimes I can be grumpy.

Tali: My dad is most likely to be distracted by me going into his office to talk with him. So, I am the distractor.

Q: Who has better office snacks?

Rob: I do.

Tali: I prefer my dad’s office snacks because I get to go into his office and bug him. But my snack drawer is always stocked with the best snacks.

From teaching valuable lessons to sharing laughs in the office, these parent-child pairs prove that logistics isn’t just about moving freight, it’s about building connections.

Happy Take Your Child to Work Day to all the amazing parents and their kids out there!
