Empowering Our Team to Make a Difference

At Atlantic Logistics, giving back to our communities is more than just a mission—it’s part of our culture. Through the Atlantic Cares Program, we proudly support our employees with paid volunteer days, empowering them to invest in causes that matter to them. Today, we’re excited to share stories from three of our team members, CEO Rob Hooper, Logistics Specialist Phil Penland, and HR and Office Manager, Jan Brittingham, who have recently taken time to volunteer for impactful organizations both at home and abroad.

Celebrating Life and Hope with First Coast Women’s Services

Jan has spent five consecutive years volunteering at the First Coast Women’s Services Life Banquet. This year’s event was particularly special, marking the 30th anniversary of the organization’s life-saving work. Held at the Shiloh Baptist Church, the evening began with a moving choir performance of “O Happy Day,” followed by a heartfelt meal and an inspiring keynote from Dan Steiner, Founder and President of Pre-Born.

First Coast Women’s Services offers crucial support to women facing unplanned pregnancies, providing lab-grade pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, options counseling, and more—all at no cost to those they serve. With six centers across the region, they’ve made an incredible impact since their inception in 1994, saving over 14,000 babies. “It’s a blessing to be part of something so meaningful,” Jan shared. “It’s an organization that’s committed to making a difference, and it’s an honor to contribute to their mission.”

Building and Serving Communities with 6:8 Ministries

Meanwhile, two Atlantic Logistics team members, Rob and Phil, traveled to Costa Rica with 6:8 Ministries, where they worked on a variety of projects to support local communities. The journey began at “The Ranch” in Horquetas, where the team built a gazebo intended for prayer and reflection. They completed the structure by installing power and water, as well as building swings for visitors to sit and reflect. The team also engaged in hands-on community work, from going on prayer walks and distributing rice and eggs to families, to holding English classes for children and adults.

On another day, the group headed to Alajuelita, a San José suburb home to a community of Nicaraguan refugees. Here, they helped at a feeding center and spent time playing with local children. These kids, many of whom live with limited resources, welcomed the team with joy and openness, as they played soccer, jump roped, and enjoyed each other’s company. The ministry provides critical support, such as food and school supplies, to help the children attend school and build a foundation for the future.

Reflecting on the trip, Rob said, “The work was exhausting, but the gratitude and warmth from everyone we met made it all worth it. It’s incredible to see how much impact a small team can have. I’m already looking forward to going back!”

Supporting Our Team’s Passion for Service

At Atlantic Logistics, we’re proud to support these remarkable acts of service and encourage all our employees to use their paid volunteer day to connect with their communities. Whether it’s helping out at a local food kitchen, mentoring children, or supporting nonprofits like K9s for Warriors, there are so many ways to make a positive impact. We believe that giving back not only enriches the lives of those we serve but also brings our team closer together and fosters a culture of compassion.
