Atlantic Cares at Toys for Tots

In what is becoming a holiday tradition, the team looked to spread some holiday cheer by donating to our local Toys for Tots. Once again, Logistics Assistant Tali Hooper took the lead on this year's operation. One change from last year however, was the addition of Pricing Analyst Ana Mendez. Mendez who accompanied Hooper in delivering the gifts and volunteering at the non-profit's distribution center.

"I loved being able to run the toy drive last year for Atlantic, and this year was even better," said Hooper.  "By volunteering and running the toy drive, I was able to see firsthand exactly what age ranges were lacking donations. The teenage boys and teenage girls donations were very sparce compared to the donations for the little kids."

"There are kids up to 14 years of age most people don’t really take that into account while donating for a toy drive. Next year, I am going to encourage people to donate more to the older kids. They deserve to get gifts too," Hooper continued.

"While packing toys for the kids some parents came in to pick up their toys. One mother had a little girl who was so excited to see all the bikes. She was begging her mom to let her take one home, she ended up getting a bike! It was so encouraging to see a glimpse of how happy these kids are going to be on Christmas day. I am so beyond excited to run the 2022 toy drive and I can’t wait to volunteer again," Hooper concluded.

"This being my first year, it was amazing to see all the behind the scenes activity, the incoming donations and how it all works" said Ana Mendez. She was very impressed by the size and scope of the operation and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

"It was such a wonderful time volunteering. Just being able to choose gifts for kids of different ages and thinking about them opening those presents on Christmas Day," said Mendez.

When asked if she'd return to volunteer again with Toys for Tots, Mendez's answer had zero hesistation.

"Yes. 100 percent."
