A Servant's Heart

The last two years has been a grind.

Quarantines, supply chain interruptions, travel restrictions, masks, missed holidays and graduations deeply affected all of us.

That being said, our Director of Human Resources was no different. Jan Brittingham went several months without seeing her children and grandchildren and there was times when it was nearly unbearable, "Since COVID-19 hit I haven't seen my oldest son and his children for a year and half," said Brittingham, "I can't wait for things to get back to anywhere close to normal."

Using the tenets of her faith to shore her up, Brittingham knew the best way to beat back the blues was to serve. She is active in her church and has a special place in her heart for First Coast Women's Services, an area non-profit providing free pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, as well as other services.

"My volunteer day consisted in counting monies that were received from various churches as well as getting bottles ready for next year’s campaign. The money raised will enable them to provide free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, peer counseling, education materials and Bibles to women that come into their centers. It is a great opportunity for individuals in the workplace, church or community to help. They ask that you help by placing any spare change you might have into the baby bottle and returning it to them."

As well as First Coast Women's Services, Brittingham represents the company in the community through the Atlantic Cares program. In 2020 when the Coronavirus pandemic was very much disrupting life globally, Atlantic Logistics went to area truck stops to distribute masks, hand sanitizer and other goods to America's Frontline workers. Brittingham of course was ready to jump in and lend a hand.

Brittingham also spends the second Saturday of every month volunteering at Seamark Ranch, an area non-profit providing a traditional home environment to kids impacted by broken families.

Per their website, "Since opening our doors Seamark has served over 100 children with it's homes, on-campus school and extensive childcare programs." Seamark goes on to say that no matter the circumstance, if the kids' stay is temporary or permanent, all are viewed as family.

"Every child deserves a safe place to grow up," said Brittingham, "what an awesome feeling to be able to assist in such a worthy cause."
